SUSTAINABILITY

This page mainly offers a collection of definitions and official websites related to the term sustainability.

A very simple definition of wise use of nature, long time before the term "sustainability" was found: The owner of a forest should not take out more wood than what has been planted and grown since the last felling.

In 1987 Sustainability has been defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland Commission).

Today the term sustainability has more and more become a controversial and complex term that is applied in many different ways: to different levels of biological organization, human organization and human activities and disciplines... more (Wikipedia)
